Hello, Starfish and 6U families! 

First, thank you all so much for the truly Herculean efforts that you've all put in this past month in getting our most precious swimmers to practice.  Coach Beth and I are both high school teachers (DHS) and mamas of kids with all sorts of things going on in "Maycember", so we are acutely aware and deeply appreciative of everything that it takes to get your swimmers to Venetian!  

Now a quick note about meets! 

Although we hope to have clear skies and warm temps for our first dual home meet against the Briarcliff Barracudas this evening, it'll likely be drizzly and chilly at best.  We have made the decision to cut Event 0 from the beginning of the meet in order to save time in case our meet is cut short, but more importantly to make sure that our Starfish have a positive experience EVERY time they practice competing! 

***Some 6U swimmers aren't registered as Starfish, but are still building confidence before racing without a coach in the water. If your 6U swimmer is in a "live event" (Heat 1 of any race other than Event 0), they should still plan to race, provided that the weather holds! 

For future home meets (6/10/25 vs. Winding Vista and 6/23/25 vs. Lake Claire) PLEASE declare your Starfish/6U if there is ANY chance that they will participate in Event 0.  It is no problem at all to "scratch" a swimmer from Event 0 at the last moment, but it is difficult to grab a coach to be in the water with your swimmer and (most importantly!!) have a medal prepared for them.
