Poolsharks - Week 7
Hi Poolsharks - welcome to Week 7!
We had many highlights from Week 6, from our Fire & Ice meet vs Leafmore, to our Dryland Specialists Kathryn & Kyle O'Day leading all of our swimmers, including the Starfish, through a Starts & Jumps circuit. HERE is our swaggin surf video (filmed & performed by coach Owen 2.0) that shows our kids doing 'running dives,' one of the skills our kids work on during the jump circuit. On Thursday, we welcomed Dean Farris, Poolshark alum, to join in our practice - HERE is a 60 second video from the morning.
We have some data reports to share. Please consider carefully if you choose to share these lists with your swimmer or not - for some kids, these are big motivators while some kids may feel other ways.
The list that I think swimmers have the most autonomy in achieving, is our Jaw Droppers list - as this is reflective of how much they are improving throughout the season, rather than how fast you are or if you are winning your races.
We will recognize the overall Jaw Dropper & Top Chomp for each age group at the end of the season celebration on Thurs June 26th (during regular practice AM times).
Poolshark Top 11 Times HERE (fastest 11 times in each race for each age group so far) - this is how we select our A relays and the swimmers in Heat 1 (the scoring heat) for each meet. It is 100% quantitative and data based.
Jaw Dropper HERE (top 11 swimmers in each age group that have dropped the highest percentage of time & earned the most speeding bullets so far).
Top Chomp HERE (top 11 point scorers per each age group so far
Divisionals - HERE is the league (Atlanta Swim Association) championship info site - everything from parking passes (they will sell out) to lots of general information about the meet. About half of our Poolsharks attend the championships, that will take place on Wednesday June 25th (8 am - 12 noon) and it is a great opportunity for our kids to have an experience swimming in the '96 Olympic pool, racing kids from all over metro ATL. We hope to have ~ 12 kids per age group attend (this will allow us to have 3 relays per age group). There is a $50 entry fee to attend the meet - Venetian will cover $20 towards each entry fee to bring the cost down to $30 per swimmer for families. Next week's email will have more info about Divisionals and how to declare.
'College Talk' led by Jayla, Bridget, CJ, Owen 1.0, Owen 2.0, Liv, Ani and Cannon - tomorrow (Monday) during teen practice, our coaches will share about their experiences in how they chose their post secondary opportunities.
Individual Lessons (HERE) tend to pick up this time of year as we head into the last 3 weeks of the season and are a great way to fine tune techniques with a favorite coach during one on one sessions.

Home Meet reminders:
As we strive to be welcoming hosts for visiting teams, please be mindful of these things:
*dance hall & tables around baby pool are for the visiting team
*home team area is the turf areas (far side of pool & next to snack bar)
*parking lot is for the visiting team (not including the handicap spots that are for anyone)
*if moving tables - please be very careful with umbrellas as they are easily breakable and can fly away with a wind gust if not screwed in tightly
Have Fun, Race Hard, Do Your Best, Go Poolsharks!
